EMI Compliance Testing

EMC/EMI Compliance to Australian/NZ and Overseas Regulations

EMCS provides testing for compliance to all major EMC standards applicable in Australia and overseas.

EMC Services provides specialist services in testing and re-engineering for the following:

EMC Services provides guidance to manufacturers, exporters and importers on their obligations in regard to EMI / EMC regulations, the standards to be satisfied and the ways in which compliance may be achieved with minimum cost and inconvenience.

Compliance Testing

EMC Services also provides advice on the Testing Facilities available in Australia and overseas, their appropriateness and charges. If desired, EMC Services will arrange for your product to pass through all stages necessary to achieve CE and ‘C tick’ marking, CSA and FCC approval. By this means, an assured result may be achieved in the shortest possible time.

Pre-compliance

EMC Services has facilities to pre-assess compliance of your product and provide solutions to overcome problems encountered at a considerable saving on the cost of submission to a formal Test Facility.

Technical Construction File (TCF)

Some products which are alike or are too large do not need to undergo formal testing and may be assessed by a Competent Body.

Where submission to a Competent Body is necessary, EMC Services will assist in the preparation of Technical Construction File (TCF) and obtain the Certificate of Compliance.

Much of our skill in this area lies in the detailed knowledge we have of the intent and application of the industry standards now governing the production and use of domestic, commercial, medical, industrial and military equipment.

Over many years, we have forged close links with overseas experts in the field and have working arrangements with the laboratories and accreditation bodies of Australia’s major trading partners.

This enables us to expedite export approvals to those country’s requirements. Notable among these are links are those with Europe (UK, Germany, Norway & Sweden), the USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and China.

FCC and CSA Certification

FCC certification for EMC compliance differs from the requirements for the rest of the world. These are covered in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR 47) most items com under Part 15. The EMC compliance requirements of the USA and Canada are similar but are not interchangeable. Although the testing required is identical in most instances, formal approval by each country is required for each product. Both testing and certification can be carried out prior to the product being exported and may be performed in Australia. EMC Services will:

Military Testing

Most Defence equipment is required to comply with Mil Std 461 using the test methods of Mil Std 462. Various editions of these standards are in use ranging from Mil Std 461B to 461E. These tests can be performed here in Australia by EMC Services Pty Ltd.

EMC Service’s managing Director, a practicing engineer, has performed such tests dating back to 1967 and has the most experience and knowledge of any EMC testing body in Australia. This included the establishment and operation of the Defence Navy EMC and Tempest laboratories and two commercial EMC test laboratories.

Our test site, located at Hampton outside of Sydney, offers one of the most versatile facilities available.

Our capability extends to on-site testing for large defence equipment and installations and includes electromagnetic radiation (EMR) or RADHAZ and communications security (TEMPEST) assessments/surveys.
